The “Lavender Blossom”

Ingredients:

  • London Dry Gin 2 ounces London dry gin
  • Mandarin Juice 1 ounce mandarin juice
  • Red Currant Liqueur 0.5 ounce red currant liqueur
  • Fresh Lavender Leaves 0.5 ounce lavender syrup (recipe below)
  • Fresh Lavender Leaves 1 sprig of fresh lavender leaves, for garnish
  • Colourful Peppercorns 2-3 white peppercorns, for garnish
  • Mandarin Orange 1 slice of mandarin orange, for garnish

For the lavender syrup:
  • Sugar 1 cup sugar
  • Water 1 cup water
  • Fresh Lavender Leaves 1 tablespoon fresh lavender leaves

*This simple syrup adds a touch of sweetness and lavender flavor to the cocktail.

The Process

Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and add the lavender leaves. Let steep for 30 minutes to an hour. Strain the syrup into a jar and store in the refrigerator.

Combine the gin, mandarin juice, red currant liqueur, and lavender syrup in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled highball glass filled with ice.

Garnish with a sprig of fresh lavender leaves, a few white or red peppercorns, and/or a slice of mandarin orange.

Tips:
• For a sweeter cocktail, add more syrup to taste.
• If you don’t have fresh lavender leaves, you can use dried lavender instead.
• Garnish with a slice of mandarin orange or a sprig of mint for an extra touch of flavour.
• Serve this cocktail in a chilled highball glass filled with ice.
